Dave Mejias: The Man You Need In Your Times Of Need
DaveMejias is an attorney from Long Island, who specializes in divorce and family law practice. He is one of the managing partners at Mejias, Milgrim & Alvarado, having practiced law for almost two decades. In 2013, Mejias was selected by Long Island Pulse as one of the Top Ten Legal Eagles, becoming the winner of the Family Law category.
At his law firm, Mejias has won sweeping
victories for the clients in cases involving custody, child support, and
maintenance; the overturning of post-nuptial/pre-nuptial agreements. His firm has
been recognized by the Coalition against Domestic Violence for its impactful
fight for the rights of domestic violence victims.
Protecting children
He has made remarkable efforts to keep
children safe from the sex offenders, such as writing legislations implementing
restrictions in residency for sex offenders, and installation of monitoring
software on the computers of sex offenders that have been registered. A top the accomplishment of him has been establishing a website which has maps showing neighborhood
heroin arrests for increased public awareness, and mandating police alerts in
school districts whenever there is a nearby arrest.
Tragedy in personal life
At 13, Mejias lost his father due to a tragic
accident because of an irresponsible driver. For him, personally became the
political, as becoming a law practitioner was the only way he could support his
family in times of financial ruin, as well as support others with their
pain. Mejias feels for his clients, and
that shows in the strategic, creative, and pragmatic spirit that he fights
their legal battles with.
An illustrious graduate of The University at
Albany School of Business and Fordham University School of Law, David Mejias's long list of awards
include recognition by the Long Island Business News as being among the “40
Rising Stars under 40” and named by the Long Island Press Power List as one
among the 50 Most Powerful and Influential Long Islanders.
